Animal Encounter at Drusillas Park
Add to Basket
Get up close and personal to a choice of animals at Drusillas Park. Come and say ‘hi’ to a sloth, cosy up to a camel or choose to ‘Picnic with the Pandas’. Alternatively, have ‘Tea with the Coatis or Beavers’ and help the keeper with a few daily care routines for these friendly creatures, including their feed. Your next option is ‘Lemur Feeding’ where you will prepare the animals' lunch and meet three different species of Lemurs from the island of Madagascar. Brand new for 2018, Drusillas is offering the unique opportunity to get closer than ever before to their two beautiful giant anteaters.
The ‘Meerkat Experience’ involves learning about the diet of these sociable creatures before prepping their food and handing it out. If you are more of a Penguin fan then opt for ‘Penguin Feeding’. You’ll learn about the park’s Humboldt penguins and gain hands on experience preparing their fishy treats.
If you’re feeling slightly braver, you should go for the ‘Snuggle up to a Snake’ encounter. Learn about these charming characters, how to handle them and then take one in your arms for a snuggle. The second option for the braver of you is the ‘Tickle a Tarantula’ experience, meet a Bird Eating Tarantula or a Red-kneed Tarantula, and take one in your hands for an exciting encounter.
- Behind the scenes tour
- Health and safety briefing

What happens on the day?
You will be met at the park by an animal keeper who will give you a behind the scenes tour first and then lead you to which ever activity it is you have chosen. You’ll be given a health and safety briefing and then get to grips with the animals, either being introduced to a few and feeding them or preparing their food first – it depends on which fascinating encounter it is. If you decided to meet a snake or tarantula, don’t worry – they won’t require feeding.
At the end of your experience there will be plenty of time to take some close up photographs, so don’t forget to bring your camera. Participants are welcome to arrive early and stay until the park closes to enjoy other attractions and animals.
