Capturing the spirit of the Jacobite rebellion, this fantastic walking tour will trace the real events that inspired Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed novels. Led by your guide, you’ll head deep into the Old Town to see where history was made, from Tolbooth Jail to Canongate Kirkyard and the World’s End Tavern.
You’ll visit sites from Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager as well as filming locations from the TV series, as you hear stories of witchcraft, curses, clans and more. Learn how Claire and Jamie’s story spans centuries, and how it relates to the real history of Edinburgh. Discover Scotland’s capital in a fascinating new light.

What happens on the day?
Your tour will begin at the city’s Victorian Mercat Cross where you’ll meet your expert tour guide and the rest of the group.
Explore the Jacobite Edinburgh of the Outlander novels as you head deep into the Old Town, visiting iconic sites whilst learning stories of witchcraft, curses, clans and more. You’ll learn about how Claire and Jamie’s story relates to real Edinburgh history, as well as visiting locations used in the filming of the Outlander TV series.
Your voucher is valid for 9 months from the date of issue

- Please note that anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to take part in the tour
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
The experience is available on Saturday mornings, all year round, with tours starting at 10.30, subject to availability
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow 2 hours for your tour.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
How it works
All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
