Add to Basket
Head out on one of the country’s oldest narrow-gauge railways for a 14-mile return journey through the beautiful Eskdale Valley. You’ll be travelling in a private Eskdale Belle carriage along the foothills of some of England’s highest mountains, with a breakfast bap and hot drink on arrival, a bottle of Cava to share en route, and lunch with a glass of wine each at the end station.
Having just celebrated its 102nd birthday as a 15in railway, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway has an abundance of history running along its tiny tracks. Soak up spectacular views across the Scafell range, Ravenglass Estuary, and Eskdale Valley as you’re carried by a historic locomotive along the rivers Esk and Mite. With tasty food and drink, golden-age travel, and picturesque surroundings, this one’s all about the journey, not the destination.

What happens on the day?
On arrival at the Ravenglass Terminus you’ll receive your tickets at the office, before heading to the Turntable Café. Start your day with a breakfast roll and tea or coffee, before boarding your private Eskdale Belle carriage.
Whilst every effort is made to provide a steam train for most journeys, occasionally a diesel engine will be provided to ensure the trains all run on time. The journey to Dalegarth will take around 40 minutes, and you’ll have a bottle of Cava to enjoy as you soak in the Eskdale Valley views.
At the other end you’ll be served lunch with a glass of wine each before re-boarding for the return journey to Ravenglass.
