Experience the total tranquillity of soaring and circling on the thermals, drifting silently on the wind in a dual control glider. These gliding aircrafts are the ultimate way to fly without an engine and many people do it just for the peaceful views as they soar across the local countryside.
After a short briefing from your British Gliding Association instructor, it's time to take to the skies for an unforgettable flight. You'll have the opportunity to take the controls during your flight, and should you catch the flying bug, this first lesson counts towards a Glider Pilot's certificate.
What's Included?
- Introduction to gliding, safety and controls
- One-to-one training from a BGA licensed instructor
- One day gliding course (2 or 3 aerotows depending on location)
- Experience gift pack including personalised voucher and message card
What happens on the day?
When you arrive, you will be asked to complete a membership application form (under 18’s will require parental consent on this form). Generally you will be asked to hand in your voucher on the day, so remember to take this with you as it is your form of payment for the lesson. You will then receive a briefing from your instructor before the two of you can get going out to the airfield.
Your extended gliding experience includes helping out with various tasks associated with gliding – keeping the log, preparing to launch the gliders and such as you wait your turn to fly. Your experience will include 2 or 3 glider flights, depending on location. Each flight should last 15 to 30 minutes depending on weather conditions. This silent and graceful way to fly is what many people do to enjoy seeing the world from a different point of view.
