Spend an afternoon meeting, handling and learning about some of nature’s most awe-inspiring predators with this Introduction to Eagle Handling experience.
You’ll get to handle four different species from Eagle Heights’ collection, and though it depends which birds are feeling best on the day you’ll get to meet species such as the Bataleur, Steppe and maybe even the Steller’s Sea Eagle – one of the biggest eagles in the world!
Make sure you bring along a camera to capture these amazing birds in action. This experience also includes entry to the rest of Eagle Heights Wildlife Park so you can meet the other animals and birds that live in the sanctuary. What happens on the day?
On arrival you’ll be given a brief introduction before getting to meet the four different species of eagle that you’ll get to handle on the experience.
You’ll be taught about the natural behaviours of each bird before flying and handling them, and with an expert bird handler on hand at all times you can ask lots of questions about the eagles you’ll handle and the rest of the park’s raptors. Cameras are welcome so you can take advantage of the numerous photo opportunities and capture a perfect shot of an eagle in action, and at the end of the experience you can retire to the Eagle Heights tearoom for complimentary tea and cake while you review your snaps.
- Minimum age: 18
- No dogs are allowed at the centre
- All participants must have a full physical and mental fitness and be able to squat and stand with ease
