Go behind the scenes of the brewing process with this Half Hogshead Tour at the National Brewery Centre. Far more than just a tour, this fantastic two and a half hour experience is brimming with brewery excitement. You’ll begin with hot drinks and biscuits, before enjoying a fascinating presentation explaining the history of brewing, covering everything from ancient times to the present day.
Newfound knowledge at the ready, you’ll be taken round the museum by your informative tour guide. Learn about the legendary Bass family, and discover the stories of people who established the world-renowned Burton’s reputation. You’ll visit the William Worthington micro-brewery, before developing your beer-tasting skills with a full tasting session, accompanied by delicious appetisers.

What happens on the day?
On arrival at the National Brewery Centre you will have a welcome meeting at 10.30 where you will meet your guide and enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits. Shortly after there will be the holographic-style presentation to fill you in on the history of brewing before your tour around the museum commences.
Visit the Bass Museum and discover the role the legendary family played, and see the William Worthington micro-brewery which brings the process into the present day. After your tour you will enjoy a tasting session, complete with a variety of appetisers.
Your voucher is valid for 9 months from the date of issue
- Minimum age: 16 (under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult and will not partake in the beer tasting)

The experience is run on the second Saturday of each month, subject to availability.
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow approximately 3 hours for your visit, the tour will take approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
How it works
All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
